The certification confirms the panel meets National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements for industrial control assemblies, so the build passes inspection without last-minute field rework.
UL 508A panel compliance involves the reporting of calculations, ratings and evaluations:
- UL 508A certification covers the entire enclosure, including component spacing, wire sizing and short-circuit current rating, not just the drive.
- SCCR (short-circuit current rating) is calculated and labeled on every panel, so your authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) can verify it against the installation’s available fault current.
- In-house fabrication keeps the UL build under one roof, so design changes do not break the listing.
- If your jurisdiction requires a field evaluation, then a UL 508A panel documents the components and ratings an inspector needs.
