A PLC system integrator programs the programmable logic controller (PLC) and connects it to the drives, sensors, safety devices and HMI that make a machine run as one system. The role covers control logic, communication setup, testing and commissioning so equipment behaves the way it was specified for the function or task it was designed to do. The PLC industrial automation scope of work consists of:
- Control logic development: A PLC system integrator writes the ladder logic or structured text that tells the machine what to do at each step of its sequence.
- I/O and device integration: The integrator wires the controller to inputs and outputs, drives and instruments so every device reports to one program.
- Communication configuration: Protocols such as EtherNet/IP and PROFINET are set up so the controller exchanges data with field devices and higher-level systems.
- Commissioning: If a fault appears during startup, then the integrator tunes the logic against real conditions before the line goes into production.
