Sometimes your PLC needs saving, not replacing. Adgo retrofits and migrates existing PLCs onto current platforms while preserving the process knowledge held in the original program. A legacy migration moves old logic to a supported controller so spare parts, support and security are no longer a risk.
There are three parts to PLC retrofit and migration work:
- Logic recovery: The integrator documents and reverse engineers the existing program before any code is changed.
- Platform migration: Legacy logic is rebuilt on a current controller, such as a Siemens S7-1500 or a Rockwell CompactLogix.
- Hardware updates: Obsolete I/O and processors are replaced with supported modules to remove end of life risk.
What if a line cannot afford any off time? In that case, the migration is staged so cutover happens in a planned window over a period of time to mitigate any production line downtime.
